what's funded

One winning project.

This isn’t just money—it’s the push that can turn a great short into a great career move.

You bring:

A script, a team, and a clear creative vision.

We bring:

Resources. Mentorship. And a platform that puts you in the room.

"This festival has come on leaps and bounds since it started, and that can be evidenced by the industry recognition with being added to the BIFA affiliated festival list. But also down to its curation of both national and international programming. The industry guests they arrange are top shelf, and the festival really does focus on the filmmaker and showing their work off the best they can."

eligibility

This is for emerging filmmakers who are ready to go:

  • Aged 18–30

  • Based in the UK

  • Applying as a team: Writer / Director / Producer

  • Have a 10–12 page short film script

  • Proposed budget of up to £10,000

  • At least two of the three team members are Black British, including either the Writer or Director

  • At least one of the main creative team (director/writer/producer) must be 18-30

Please note: This is not an entry-level programme. It’s for creatives who are already making moves—and need real support to level up now.

When you've lived it, you know what’s missing. Alex Kayode-Kay, the multi-award winning, BAFTA nominated director, writer, actor, and producer who carved his way in, is proof of what’s possible. That’s why he cares—as a mentor of the winning team, and as the creative force behind the fund.
