In Dear Simone, Indonesian director Stephanie Tangkilisan embarks on a contemplative journey through the haunting layers of immigrant grief and the inexorable guilt of abandoning home. Framed through the tender presences of her two dogs, Simone and Seiya, this film meditates on love, loss, and the quiet persistence of memory, capturing the fractured identity of a life stretched between Jakarta and New York.
