About the director(s)

Matthew Simpson is an English actor and commercial director, known for Masters of the Air, Annihilation, and EastEnders. With over 30 commercials for leading brands to his name, he has developed a reputation for sharp visual storytelling and a deep passion for independent cinema.

Originally from Lowestoft, England, Matthew trained at drama school in London before working on both sides of the camera as an actor and director. That experience gave him the skills and resilience to create Disremember, his debut feature and the world’s first solo feature film, made entirely alone, without additional crew, cast, or external backing.

The film has gone on to be selected at reputable festivals such as Aesthetica, and win Best Feature and Best Actor at BIFA-qualifying festivals, breaking new ground in what’s possible for independent filmmaking. Driven to push the boundaries of storytelling and inspire others to create on their own terms, Matthew is now developing his next feature, Beast Per Limit, a gritty, character-driven fitness drama built around a real physical onscreen transformation, and the next bold step in his filmmaking journey.
