Rose of Nevada

London Breeze is thrilled to present a special screening of recently released Rose of Nevada, the widely anticipated third feature film from BAFTA-winning director-editor-composer-cinematographer-producer Mark Jenkin (Bait, Enys Men). The film will be followed by a Q&A with star of the film, LBFF patron George MacKay.

Synopsis:

Nick (MacKay) and Liam (Callum Turner) are down-on-their-luck fishermen who take a job aboard the Rose of Nevada, a mysterious boat that has suddenly reappeared after vanishing 30 years ago. On their first journey they fall into a timeslip that takes them back to the ‘90s, where they are mistaken for members of the original crew, who had disappeared along with the boat. Tapping into his deeply rooted Cornish identity once again, Jenkin creates an eerie atmosphere and folkloric tale that will linger with you long after watching it.

“An enigmatic drama steeped in loss, memory and the unsettling rhythms of coastal life.”- Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian.

“A moving tale of personal versus communal sacrifice.”- Little White Lies

“A work of hypnotically accomplished form and legitimate depth.”- IndieWire

“Cornish indie auteur Mark Jenkin’s third feature combines the analog throwback approach of his debut ‘Bait’ with the genre experimentation of his follow-up ‘Enys Men’, to thoroughly satisfying effect.”- Variety
