Gala Closing Night Screening

Having premiered at the 2023 Venice and Toronto International Film Festival, LBFF 2024 is proud to present Tibetan auteur Pema Tseden’s multi-award-winning final completed feature. Snow Leopard is set in the vast and stunning Tibetan terrain, and uses the fabled creature to pose and probe the universal question of tradition versus modernity.

An unexpected incident causes a snow leopard to break into the sheep pen of a local herder and kill nine rams not only causing a generational row in the family and attracting a TV crew into the village, but also triggering a heated debate on whether to honour or abandon traditional values in modern day Tibet.

A rather fitting goodbye for a filmmaker who left the world at the top of his game. Asian Movie Pulse

“Pema Tseden’s swan song is a final reminder that the Tibetan director had his finger firmly on the pulse of the human condition. Snow Leopard is small in scale as a story and massive in scale when it comes to its breathtaking scenery, yet

Pema Tseden manages to ground the film in human emotions. But he also reminds us of the insignificance of our differences when put against the forces of nature.ICS

The screening will be followed by this year’s LBFF Awards. Everyone is welcome to stay for this short ceremony to celebrate the achievements of this year’s selected filmmakers.
